Taxis

Many visitors find that taxis are one of the most convenient modes of transportation in Bermuda. All taxis are outfitted with meters, and a rate card must be displayed. By law, the rates are fixed. The base fare is valid for one to four passengers; taxis carrying five or six passengers charge a different rate. Fares begin at $6.40 for the first mile and $2.20 for each subsequent mile. Rates are slightly higher, $8 and $2.80, from midnight to 6 a.m. and on Sundays and public holidays. Taxi drivers displaying Tour Guide flags are qualified tour guides. Rates start at about $36 per hour for up to four passengers.

Call 292-4175 (Bermuda Taxi Operators Company, Ltd.); 295-4141 (Bermuda Taxi Radio Cabs, Ltd.); 295-8294 (Bermuda Taxi Services Ltd.); 292-4476 (BIU Taxi Co-op Transportation); 296-2121 (BTA Transport Taxis); 505-1584 or 505-4604 (Quality Transport); or 295-0041 (Trott Travel, Ltd.). The approximate fare from the airport to Hamilton is $27; Royal Naval Dockyard, $55; South Shore hotels, $33; St. George's, $16.

All fares and rates quoted were valid at time of printing, but are subject to change.
