| Spittal Pond Nature Reserve - Video |
On Bermuda's East End, the Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, is one of Bermuda National Trust properties (www.bnt.bm). The Spitall Pond is Bermuda's largest bird sanctuary. The best time of year to spot birds is November through May. A rock with a Spanish inscription dating from 1543 lies atop a cliff on the southern shore of the 34-acre reserve. This is the oldest evidence of humans on the island. Trails lead through lush woodlands along shoreline cliffs. Open dawn until dusk, with free admission.
