| St. Peters Church - Video |
For almost four centuries, Bermuda's first place of worship, St. Peter's Church, has overlooked the harbour from the top of its famous brick stairs rising from Duke of York Street in St. George's. First built by colonists in 1612, it is the oldest Protestant church in the New World. Many of the Africans who helped found Bermuda now rest in St. Peter's Slave Graveyard. Visitors are awed by the sacred antiquity of this icon from settlement times.
